Background: Like many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Benin has a young population, with 48% of the population under 15 years old. These young people, particularly adolescent girls, face significant challenges related to sexual and reproductive health. Thirty-seven percent of women are married before the age of 18 and 20% of 15-19-year-old girls have given birth at least once.

YCSRR’s Role: The YCSRR was one of the co-leads of the project. The organization worked to empower benenise youths in relations to their sexual and reproductive health and rights in Benin through capacity strengthening, awareness building, and advocacy. 

YCSRR’s Activities: Some of the YCSRR’s activities related to ProJeunes included an advocacy training on SRHR for youths in the capital of Benin, multiple awareness sessions, the subcontracting of local projects, the participation of benenise youths at the 25th International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD+25) in Nairobi and the creation of advocacy tools for local youths.
