Relevant Experience

Amit Timilsina is a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)  and Gender activist and has been advocating on these issues for over 5 years locally, nationally and also at regional and international platforms.  Amit is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Gender Studies.Over the years Amit has worked to gain expertise around issues including SRHR, HIV and AIDS, gender, comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Amit also served as the President (2016-2018) of YUWA, one of leading youth organization in Nepal. Amit has worked as an Assistant Program Officer in the field of SRHR working on the “I understand HIV” project with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. He has also worked as a Project Coordinator in “Peer Education on CSE” supported by the Asia Pacific Resource and Research Center for Women (ARROW) coordinating the Youth Activists Leadership Council and also coordinated  as a focal point with the “Right Here Right Now” (RHRN) international consortium for YUWA, coordinating 15 platform member organizations working for CSE, Marriage Equality and Safe Abortion in Nepal. He has advocated at the national, regional and international levels, including at the Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) 2017  where he delivered the opening statement on behalf of Asia Pacific youth. Similarly, he also participated in International AIDS conference 2018 and is member of International AIDS Society. He also serves as member of Asia Pacific Alliance (APA) on Sexual and Reproductive Rights. Currently, he works as Program Manager at Centre for Awareness Promotion (CAP) Nepal working for violence survivor and those working at Adult Entertainment Sector (AES) to end modern day slavery. He is also Women Deliver Young Leader 2018 from Nepal.

Additional Information

Amit enjoys writing Nepalese poems, reading novels, and watching and playing games. He also loves travelling, trekking and serving society.
