International day of action for Women's Health

For the International Day of Action for Women's Health (May 28), YC ran a social media campaign that focussed on the impact of COVID-19 on the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people across the world. To this end, we released a poster series highlighting inequities in access to abortion and contraception, as well as highlighted the increased vulnerability that LGBTQIA+ youth faced during this period on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. Finally, we also called on governments and lawmakers across the world to not use this period as a smokescreen to pass regressive laws and policies, as has been the case with anti-choice and transphobic laws raised and passed in some parts of Europe.

Apart from our social media campaign, the YC team also published articles. This article on the necessity for contraceptive access during COVID-19, by YC Board member Kerigo Odada, was published in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters journal, while this article on necessity for abortion access during COVID-19 by a YC Team member, was published in the newly launched YC Blog!

Stay tuned to our social media for further campaigns by YC!
